Developer Shows Creative In-World Clothing System for Cozy Pixel Game
It definitely makes playing more interactive.
Developer 9joao6 has come up with a creative way to handle clothing in the game, equipping your friends directly in the game world rather than navigating through menus. In the video above, you can see how a character chooses and customizes clothing, instead of a player choosing it from a menu.
Using Godot, 9joao6 develops a chill multiplayer life sim, Sunrise Isles. The developer noted that most models in the game rely on a simple palette shader that uses UV coordinates to determine color, combined with a modified light shader for sharper lighting. The terrain uses the same light shader, with multiple layers of texture splatting applied in the fragment shader to render surfaces such as dirt paths and stone cliffs.

Sunrise Isles is a cozy life sim, described by the dev as a hangout game, where you can explore a small island together with your friends, help each other, and just chill and talk. You can choose from a variety of roles – chopping wood, cooking, designing clothes, driving goods across the island, or simply exploring and chatting. The game's world features multiple regions with distinct resources, a full weather system, and a day-and-night cycle.
