LogInDevolver Digital has announced its acquisition of Doinksoft, the developer behind Gato Roboto and Gunbrella.
Devolver Digital announced it has acquired Doinksoft, the developer of Gato Roboto and Gunbrella. However, the financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
"Today is a historic moment," the announcement reads. "We are excited to announce that the world-renowned franchises and talented people at Doinksoft will be joining team Devolver!"
In its own announcement video, Doinksoft confirmed the news and stated that "there is no 'I' in 'indie'", adding that "Doinksoft is now Devolver's problem".
Doinksoft made its debut in 2020 with the 2D Metroidvania Gato Roboto, which was published by Devolver. Before being acquired by the company, Doinksoft had already chosen Devolver as the publisher for their upcoming game, Gunbrella.
Gunbrella is scheduled to be released later this year. The game will allow players to assume the role of a rugged lumberjack seeking vengeance, equipped with the enigmatic Gunbrella, "a firearm that doubles as an umbrella."
According to the game's Steam page, the 2D side-scroller will delve into the "inner workings" of various characters such as ghouls, gangsters, police, and cultists, as well as explore the aftermath of corporate greed.
The game promises to take players through various locations, including a small town plagued by cult abductions, a fortress controlled by a trash gang, and possibly even "the mythical city of Avalon, where it’s rumoured that you can still see the sky."
