Diablo-Style PvP by Former Blizzard CCO Is Coming to Early Access in November

Arkheron is Bonfire Studios' first game.

Arkheron, a fast-paced isometric PvP game by Bonfire Studios, will arrive in early access on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on November 27. Prepare your friends because you'll be one of the 15 teams of three to fight to ascend a mysterious tower.

There are no heroes or roles; your strategy depends on communication and the items you collect. The developers promise "a hundred ways a fight can turn" and unique runs every time, thanks to an abundance of Relics that dramatically change the play and give you exciting abilities.

"Arkheron's isometric free-aim combat keeps you locked into the fight: swivel to line up a shot, dodge in close, and read the danger through sound and positioning before you see it. It plays the same on a controller as it does on mouse and keyboard — so if your friends are on console, you're not choosing between playing with them and playing well."

You start against another team and carve your way up to meet in Ascension, where 15 teams fight monsters and rival squads. The field gets smaller every floor, like in a battle royale, until one team is left standing.

If the visuals remind you of Diablo, there is a reason: Bonfire Studios was founded by Rob Pardo, former Chief Creative Officer of Blizzard, who teamed up with other Blizzard veterans and former Nexon America CEO Min Kim to release Arkheron as the studio's first game later this year.

"We have a game we love. Arkheron creates the kind of wild, memorable player stories that only happen here, and we're excited to open it up to more players. It's still in development and a long way from the competitive experience we want it to be at 1.0. Early Access gives more players the chance to play while we keep cooking. We want to gather meaningful feedback, iterate alongside the community, and be transparent about what we're working on," the studio said.

The game will leave early access when "it’s earned a place at the top of your gaming rotation."
