Digital Copy of Earth Created With Photorealistic 3D Tiles & Unreal Engine

The project was set up by FloorYUKA.

CG/VFX Artist and student at Japan Electronics College FloorYUKA has recently shared a short demo, showcasing an impressive setup that looks like an enhanced version of Google Earth.

Leveraging Unreal Engine and Photorealistic 3D Tiles, a new geodata tool developed by Google and Cesium that offers a seamless 3D mesh model of our entire planet, the creator managed to set up a digital copy of Earth that runs in real-time, which the developer plans to use "for research". You can check out the full demo attached above or by visiting FloorYUKA's Twitter page.

Last week, Technical Artist Nils Bakker also demonstrated the results of the Photorealistic 3D Tiles + Unreal Engine combination, showcasing an impressive game prototype that lets one explore the entire world in 3D.

This project includes assets, maps, materials, Blueprints, and effects created in the Unreal Engine. Each asset was created for realistic AAA quality visuals, style, and budget.
