The game combines the creativity of survival games with the social interactivity multiplayer games.
During Gamescom's Opening Night Live, Conan Exiles developer Funcom announced its next project – Dune: Awakening, an open-world survival MMO set on Arrakis.
The game "takes inspiration from both Frank Herbert’s novels and Denis Villeneuve’s Academy Award-winning film while exploring exciting new possibilities in the franchise."
Dune: Awakening "combines the grittiness and creativity of survival games with the social interactivity of large-scale, persistent multiplayer games" and offers to explore the ruins of biological testing stations, scavenge the wreckage of fallen spaceships, and discover "secrets and riches before the coriolis storms once again shift the sands and alter the landscape."
The developers promise massive battles both on foot and vehicles to try and control the spice and Arrakis with it. Build your own faction through spice harvesting, trade, subterfuge, and open conflict. You can customize your character's abilities and your base.
Dune: Awakening will come to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is available to wishlist on Steam, and you can also sign up for the beta on its official website.
