Dynamic Unreal Engine Material Library Interface Goes Open Source

Get control of your assets with MaterialVault.

3D artist Scott Rafferty has released MaterialVault as an open-source Unreal Engine plug-in. This is a fully dynamic material library interface that will let you control your assets in a clear and comfortable way.

With the tool, you can see, apply, and edit materials quickly. It should work faster and more efficiently than the standard Unreal Engine functions.

MaterialVault automatically generates folders matching the content folder structure and displays material instances together with in-engine rendered thumbnails. It has a dynamic texture dependency viewer so you can see what textures are affecting your selected material.

The tool also features a metadata tagging system and functions to apply materials to specific element IDs. You can apply it to either multiple or single static meshes and use mouse button controls to apply materials, select them in the content browser, and produce a larger thumbnail swatch render.

MaterialVault is available under the MIT license. You can find the repository and installation instructions on GitHub. Also, join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitter, and LinkedIn, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.

This project includes assets, maps, materials, Blueprints, and effects created in the Unreal Engine. Each asset was created for realistic AAA quality visuals, style, and budget.
