Electronic Arts allegedly has no plans to develop new content for the Dead Space series.
As reported by Insider Gaming, the franchise had been put "on ice," according to the company's internal messaging. Sources also claim that the series is unlikely to be resumed anytime soon, and no new or reworked content, such as a remake, reboot, or sequel, is expected. Additionally, the report notes that some members of the company believe selling the IP might help EA to settle the debt and recover some of the money once the deal closes next year.
Dead Space, released in 2008, quickly became a fan-favorite title, bringing a lot to the survival horror genre, and its 2023 remake also didn't disappoint the players. Earlier, the lead developers of Dead Space, Game Director Glen Schofield, Animation Director Christopher Stone, and Creative Director Bret Robbins, shared that they pitched Dead Space 4 to EA, but the publisher rejected this idea.
