EA's Iron Man Will Be Built on Unreal Engine 5

As the company stated, to unleash their creativity and craft something truly exceptional, Frostbite was left behind.

In a recent blog post, Motive Studios, the developer behind the upcoming Iron Man game, provided an update saying that the game's release is not soon. Patrick Klaus, the Motive General Manager, emphasized that the project is still in the early stages of pre-production and revealed that the team has opted for Unreal Engine 5 as the game's engine.

Klaus highlighted that the studio is dedicated to establishing a solid groundwork for development by taking ample time. The team has expressed excitement about the potential for exploring various aspects such as storytelling, design, and gameplay in the Iron Man universe, despite it being early days for the project.

"We're still early in pre-production and taking our time to make sure we set the best possible foundation for development. But already, we're finding so many opportunities to explore story, design, and gameplay with Iron Man, and it's exciting to see the fantasy start coming alive. Even this early in the process, we've put in place a Community Council made up of Iron Man and Marvel fans; as with Dead Space, they'll be offering feedback on pretty much everything throughout the development process. Meanwhile, we've chosen Unreal Engine 5 as our game engine, in order to empower the dev team to work their magic and create something really special," wrote Klaus in a blog post

Although fans may be disappointed by the news that the Iron Man game is still in its early stages, there are several exciting developments to celebrate. EA is actively involving the community in the game's creation through the establishment of a Community Council comprised of passionate Iron Man and Marvel enthusiasts. This council, akin to the approach taken for the Dead Space remake, will play a crucial role by offering feedback on every aspect of the game's development. Motive's decision to engage fans in the creative process underscores their dedication to an inclusive approach to game development.

In addition to discussing game mechanics, Klaus addressed the company's operational strategies, acknowledging the current challenges and discussions within the gaming industry. He highlighted the adoption of a hybrid work model, combining in-person and remote environments at the Montreal-based studio. This approach aims to leverage the strengths of both paradigms, as Klaus believes that finding the right balance can potentially enhance the creative process and lead to improved game output.
