Removing the game's centerpiece seems to have worked.
Whatever you think about the Erdtree in Elden Ring, modder K4richard can give you an opportunity to get rid of it once and for all, at least visually. K4richard created a mod that removes the tree to boost performance.
"The closer I got to the Erdtree the more demanding the game became," they told PC Gamer. So, trying to finish the game on their NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030, K4richard cut down the omnipresent tree. And it worked!
"The Erdtree and a bunch of particle effects were clearly the root cause of the problem. After removing the tree and a couple of particles I was able to play at 30 fps on a low-end PC. A whopping 15 frames increased on a GT 1030! This mod practically lowered the graphics card requirements for the game."
The next thing K4richard is planning to do with the poor tree is to turn it into Jesus, so stay tuned.
To install the mod, you need to have Mod Engine 2 for Elden Ring. The mod itself is available on Nexus Mods.
