"It looks kinda weird lol."
This is a story of one Frieren drawing inspiring artists from all kinds of fields and becoming a trend. If you're chronically online, you must have seen the protagonist of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End in a particular pose: with her chin lifted and her face... let's just say it's not how it's supposed to be.
"I practiced drawing faces in a different angle, but it looks kinda weird lol," said the original creator, SpaceDev1, on Reddit, possibly genuinely looking for advice. Instead, their image became a meme all over the internet, and even the English voice of Frieren put it as her profile picture on X/Twitter.
Of course, 3D artists couldn't just let it slide past them, so here is a Blender version of the meme from Odd-Watercress3415:
Now this is true passion. You don't have to look hard to find all kinds of variations of the image in different fandoms:
Thankfully, among funny pictures, there's actual advice on how to draw this angle right, so hopefully, SpaceDev1 will learn something. Or embrace their new memeness and popularity and continue producing hilarious art:
"I’m happy that it inspired a lot of you to draw this apparently hard angle. I’m glad that you challenged yourself to do better than I did," the creator said. "I’m absolutely flattered this drawing became Mallorie Rodak’s pfp. I just shared it because it looked silly, but omg the publicity, the tips. I didn’t even know that drawing would touch that many people’s soul. Thank you!"
