Monday is always busier than the rest of the week, and our desire for some relaxation is at a higher level. So we've decided to share with you an upcoming cozy game for today's game recommendation, titled Starsand Island.
Last year, we spotted this Studio Ghibli-inspired farming simulation game, and over the past year, the development continues, and we could see some changes in the character design and gameplay. So let's take another look at the renewed version of the game.
Leave all troubles and nuisances aside and build your dream paradise here during slow-paced days. You can expect all core elements expected for farming games, like fishing, planting, raising pets and animals, making friends with other NPCs, or falling in love with someone in town.
"Immerse yourself in a serene pastoral lifestyle: slow-paced days spent bonding with adorable capybaras, cats, and dogs, savoring the thrill of bountiful fishing, exploring the mystical Moonlit Forest, or simply soaking in the island’s untouched beauty," reads the game's description. It's pretty fun to feed the animals and watch them roam freely in your farmlands.
The game offers different vehicle choices, such as a longboard, a retro scooter, or boats to sail, so you can enjoy cruising the coastlines and finding out the neighboring islands' secrets. Among all the islanders that you may encounter and forge a relationship with, you could find the one with whom you can spend your life.
For those who wouldn't resist some combat, the game has you covered by hiding ancient ruins, rare treasures, and hidden mineral veins in fog-shrouded areas where combat against bizarre creatures may take place.
When sharing the initiative behind this project, Golton Gao, producer at Seed Lab, said, "We've poured so much love into crafting an experience that's all about comfort, creativity, and connection. Starsand Island is the kind of game we wish we had growing up—a peaceful escape where players can express themselves, explore at their own pace, and build something meaningful, either solo or with friends."
Starsand Island is coming in Q4 this year to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch. The team reveals that highly-requested features like the Mount System are now in the works, with details to be shared in upcoming devlogs. If this game piques your interest, feel free to check out more details on its Steam page and Kickstarter campaign.
