Epic Games Reveals Virtual Production Visualization Guide

The first chapter of the Guide is already via Epic Developer Community, with more chapters planned to be released in the coming months.

Epic Games has officially launched Virtual Production Visualization Guide, a series of comprehensive step-by-step tutorials that will explain how to utilize virtual production workflows for visualization – the process of creating computer-generated imagery to help plan and preview various aspects of a production, including previs, pitchvis, techvis, stuntvis, and postvis.

Sharing insights from industry experts, the Guide will thoroughly explain the process of establishing and conducting a high-quality visualization shoot in Unreal Engine. According to Epic, the goal of the series is to demystify the technical obstacles faced by individuals interested in embracing this method of exploring imaginative concepts during the early phases of film production.

The first chapter of the Guide, which explores the fundamentals of virtual production and details such aspects as the hardware and software needed, body and facial performance capture solutions, timecode, retargeting, virtual cameras, and "which buttons to push", has already been released via Epic Developer Community, with the team planning to release the next chapters over the next few months.

Additionally, the Virtual Production Visualization Guide will be conveniently accessible through Epic's recently enhanced Virtual Production Hub. This hub now features a comprehensive "What is Virtual Production" explainer, which Epic describes as a perfect complement to the Virtual Production Visualization Guide.
