EXCLUSIVE: Playdead Has Filed a Lawsuit Against its Co-Founder

With this move, the developer aims to "protect the company's business and reputation."

UPD: Dino Patti has commented on Playdead's confirmation that the studio has already filed a lawsuit against him, saying he struggles to understand what Playdead and Arnt Jensen aim to accomplish with it. Below is Patti's full statement, shared with 80 Level:

"To be honest, I find it difficult to understand what Arnt is hoping to achieve here. It feels deeply misguided. I doubt he's fully considered the level of brainpower, resources, and money this will demand on his part... not to mention the optics of a nearly 100-person company targeting a single individual. There's a fundamental mismatch in both substance and proportionality. Let's see how it plays out."

Original article: Playdead, the development studio behind Limbo and Inside, has confirmed to 80 Level that they have filed a lawsuit against Dino Patti, the studio's Co-Founder and Executive Producer of the aforementioned games, reaffirming Patti's earlier claim.

According to Playdead's Chief Operating Officer Mads Wibroe, the suit has been filed at the Maritime and Commercial High Court in Denmark and concerns "the use of trademarks, copyrighted works and marketing practices."

"We have found it necessary to take this step to protect the company's business and reputation," Wibroe told us. "While the case is ongoing in court, we have no further comments."

Just recently, Dino Patti disclosed that Playdead's lawyers intended to move forward with the lawsuit – and as it turns out, they already have. According to Patti, he sees the court battle as an opportunity to bring everything into the open and finally speak more freely and openly about the situation without legal restrictions.

As for the reasons behind the lawsuit, Playdead has entered the legal battle over Patti's use of a publicly available image in a LinkedIn post, with the former executive alleging the real intent is to erase him from the history of the company, Limbo, and Inside.
