Expect "a Lot of Player Freedom" in Naughty Dog's Next Game

"You are all not ready for how amazing this thing is going to be."

Naughty Dog, the developer of The Last of Us, is working on a title that will offer "a lot of player freedom."

This is according to video game industry insider Ben Hanson, who shared this "little juicy tidbit about Naughty Dog's next game" on the MinnMax podcast. According to "somebody very in the know, who worked on the game":

"The tone was like, you are all not ready for how amazing this thing is going to be, and the tone was — I'm not going to say the game that they referenced to compare it to because I don't want people to be like, MinnMax said it was going to be exactly like this — but they compared it to a game with a lot of player freedom."

But everything else about the title remains a mystery, as the discussion on this topic ended soon without more details being shared.

Naughty Dog's name always appears alongside the award-winning The Last of Us, which sold over 37 million copies worldwide by January 2023. The video game franchise has been adapted into a TV series, with the second season coming in 2025

Despite a strong connection with The Last of Us, fans can definitely expect different titles created by the studio, as Naughty Dog's boss, Neil Druckmann, stated that Naughty Dog won't forever remain a The Last of Us studio. Currently, there are "multiple single-player projects" in the works.
