Experience The Pure Joy Of Digging In A Game About Digging A Hole

This smallest project from the solo developer Cyberwave was created in three weeks, and received 100k wishlists in only five weeks.

A Game About Digging A Hole’s title almost tells everything this simple and concise game is about. After purchasing a new house, you’ve decided to explore the underground in the garden by digging a hole to see if there are buried treasures or something else. With shovel in hand, you’ve got a whole new world to explore.

The resources you collected while going down can be traded for money, which can be used to unlock more inventory slots, buy batteries, and upgrade or buy new equipment, like lights to see dark areas and dynamites to explode hard rocks, which will, in turn, help you continue the journey. “There's no rush, no rules - just you and the adventure underground.”

Ever since its release on February 7, 90% of over 2,300 reviewers of this game left a recommended comment, as it’s simple, chill, and fun to spend some spare time on and get some nice experience in return.

A playthrough might only take around one to two hours, but you can definitely try out more to have everything discovered. For example, one player named ItzMango has played the game for 32 hours, and here’s how they feel:

“I lost track of time, lost in the rhythmic motion, the push and pull, the raw satisfaction of going deeper. Every layer of earth stripped away felt like shedding my past self—my stress, my addictions, my doubts. My body grew stronger, my mind clearer. Nothing else mattered. No hunger, no sleep. Only the hole. Only the descent.”

As the smallest project from the solo developer, Cyberwave created A Game About Digging A Hole in just three weeks during their spare time. It had received 100k wishlists in only five weeks.
