Explosive Update on VRESKI's Upcoming Shooter with Max Payne Vibes

No wonder their Hong Kong Massacre inspired John Wick 4's director.

The Hong Kong Massacre creators VRESKI don't often tease us with new footage of their upcoming first-person shooter that might remind you of Max Payne, but when they do, it's awesome.

Following the restaurant shootout, a drug lab scene pleases us with its sweet slow-motion action and satisfying blowouts. The player's smooth movement makes you want to experience the game now, but the developers haven't mentioned the release date (or even its name.) What we do know is that it's made with Unreal Engine.

VRESKI's Hong Kong Massacre got a new dose of popularity last year when the director of John Wick: Chapter 4 exposed that it inspired one of the gunfight scenes in the movie.

"But I had seen this video game and I’ll throw a shout-out – I think it was called “Hong Kong Massacre” – they did this top shot and we had been doing so much with the big muzzle flashes and it just kind of clicked like, “Well, if I’m above, we shoot like this and we shoot like this, and it draws these cool lines with the muzzle flash, and if I get the right flicker effect, it’s like Etch A Sketch. It looks really cool."

The Massacre itself drew inspiration from John Woo movies and Hotline Miami – an obvious choice for the impactful top-down shooter.
