Facebook Joined The Blender Development Fund

Another huge player is now a member of the Blender club.

Facebook decided to support artists, animators, researchers, engineers, designers, and content creators who use open-source tools by contributing to the development of Blender. The tech giant will join the Blender Foundation’s Development Fund as a Corporate Patron as of Q4, 2020.

"We at Blender see this as another important signal of the industry’s willingness to migrate to open source, and contribute to open source’s continual improvement," wrote Ton Roosendaal, Chairman Blender Foundation.

Previously, companies like Epic Games, Ubisoft, Microsoft, AMD, and other influential teams have also joined the fund. You can find the original announcement here.
