Fall Guys Hits 20 Million Players

Fall Guys, the 2020's battle royale game developed by Mediatonic and published by Epic Games, now has 20 million players. The game managed to hit this milestone within just 48 hours since its free-to-play release last week, the developer revealed on Twitter.

Mediatonic thanked the fans for their support and invited more players to check out the game this past weekend. "MASSIVE THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE STUMBLED," the developer wrote. "We reached an incredible 20 million players in the first 48 hours of Free For All!"

Fall Guys was initially launched on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam in 2020 and soon became the most downloaded PS Plus game in the history of the service. On June 21, the game was also released on Xbox and Nintendo Switch coinciding with its relaunch as a F2P title.

Since its original release, the game has received a number of updates and new content and has been well-perceived by players who praised it for its fun gameplay. Fall Guys' free-to-play and multiplatform relaunch last week, however, brought in some server issues, following which players were unable to find matches last week. Similar issues had occurred when the game was first launched for PS4 and Steam in 2020. 

Mediatonic was purchased by Epic Games last year as a part of the company's acquisition of Tonic Games Group. Since then, Fall Guys was gradually integrating into Epic's ecosystem. As a result, the title is no longer available on Steam – instead, it has been moved to the Epic Games Store, and players now need to log in with an Epic Games account in order to play the game.
