The events of the show were also confirmed to take place on the West Coast.
Amazon's official Twitter page Prime Video has shared a long-awaited update on the upcoming live-action TV adaptation of Bethesda's Fallout, finally giving the show a release window and confirming that the series' setting will be more akin to the first two games and Obsidian's New Vegas and take place on the West Coast.
With this update, Amazon disclosed that the highly-anticipated adaptation will be released sometime next year and will feature Vault 33, as indicated by the number on the Vault Boy's jumpsuit shown in the promotional image. It's worth noting that Vault 33 never appeared in canon in the past, so as of right now, it is impossible to know the nuances of the experiment that took place in this particular Vault-Tec facility.
The studio also confirmed that the show's events will take place in Los Angeles, known as the Boneyard in the Fallout universe, hinting at the possibility that the TV series will allow old-school players to revisit some of the locations from the original Fallout game, which also featured post-apocalyptic L.A.
Shortly prior to this update, towards the conclusion of an in-person Starfield presentation at gamescom 2023: Opening Night Live, Todd Howard of Bethesda Games revealed a short teaser trailer for the show, noting that Bethesda wouldn't be posting it online.
As anticipated, a member of the audience recorded the teaser and subsequently made it available online for a wider audience. The 144p trailer featured an iconic Vault door, several soldiers in what looks to be a T-45 power armor, a nuclear blast, and a cowboy hat-wearing ghoul.
Last year, a collection of behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the set also appeared online, showing a real-life recreation of Fallout's Super-Duper Mart, several retro-futuristic cars, and more. You can check out the collection here.
