Final Fantasy VII Revelation is Coming Spring 2027 for All Platforms

Square Enix has officially revealed Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final chapter of the remake trilogy that began with Remake and continued with Rebirth.

Square Enix closed out the 2026 Summer Game Fest by revealing Final Fantasy VII Revelation.

The remake trilogy began with Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020, which expanded the Midgar section of the original 1997 game into a full standalone experience. That was followed by Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in 2024, which dramatically broadened the scope of the adventure while introducing new narrative twists that pushed the story beyond a straightforward recreation of the original source material.

With Revelation, Square Enix now faces the challenge of delivering a satisfying ending not only to the original story but also to the new mysteries and alternate timeline elements introduced throughout the remake project.

The announcement trailer offered only a brief glimpse of what's to come, but it was enough to ignite speculation across the Final Fantasy community. The footage featured Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth, and several other key characters, while teasing the emotional and world-altering events that lie ahead.

While Square Enix remains careful about revealing story details, it's clear that Revelation will cover the final portion of the original game's narrative while continuing to explore the remake trilogy's unique reinterpretation of events.

The title itself has already generated discussion among fans. While "Remake" and "Rebirth" suggested themes of reinvention and renewal, "Revelation" hints at answers, discoveries, and perhaps the final unveiling of the trilogy's biggest mysteries.

Many players are already speculating about how the game will resolve questions surrounding Sephiroth's motivations, the nature of the timeline changes, and the fate of characters whose destinies appeared uncertain at the end of Rebirth.

We won't have to wait as long as you'd have thought, as Final Fantasy VII Revelation is due out in Spring 2027 for all major platforms simultaneously, ditching the timed exclusivity on PlayStation that the first two were given.
