First-Person View Added to This Upcoming Cozy Camper-Van Game

Square Glade Games has brought some intriguing new features for Outbound.

Square Glade Games, the indie studio behind Outbound, an open-world exploration game in which you can explore a colorful world with your customized camper van, has announced that the game is now equipped with a first-person driving feature. Many immediately love this feature, as it surely brings a more realistic driving experience.

Upon its announcement in February this year, the game attracted our attention for its gameplay, which allows players to build their own house on wheels and escape boring daily life. If you missed our previous coverage, feel free to check it out here.

In the comment section, the developer also revealed that the game would allow players to drive through “dynamic weather changes” while answering a fan’s query. That sounds to me like another fun feature to enjoy — I won’t say how much I enjoy the weather changes in Stardew Valley.

Other than the first-person view and weather changes, a lot of new features have been added during the half year since we first covered the game. The developer has shared some in-game video clips to show off these features. For example, a traveling journal where you can write down the various landmarks along the way:

It’s not new that players can decide the color of their belongings in games, but seeing them painted with different colors in real-time is pretty cool:

Your creativity is not limited to the outer design of the camper van, as you can also use the various decorations to make the interior warm and comfy:

One of the main gameplay in the game is collecting clean energies from the sun, wind and water to power your home. So you’ll need to improve technology in order to better utilize them. With the “deep tech trees” that developers are working on being added to the game, the game becomes more strategic:

To live with nature requires a great sense of time, and the sky gives you a hint about it. The inclusion of a “dynamic day and night cycle” in the game visualizes the passing of time. Seeing the colorful lights that you use to decorate the house shine and glitter adds another layer of coziness (I could be doing nothing in the game, just staring at them):

These are some selected new features from the game, and there are more on Twitter to explore! The game is set to "Coming soon" on Steam. If it piques your interest, feel free to check it out for more information and add it to your wishlist.
