Five Criterion Veterans Leave After Need for Speed Unbound Launch

The developers left to "explore new opportunities outside of EA".

EA's Criterion studio has seen some big changes as five of its long-serving members have left the company following the launch of Need for Speed Unbound.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz, the studio lost Matt Webster, VP and GM of Criterion who has been with Criterion for over 23 years, executive producer Pete Lake, who joined Criterion back in 1996, senior technical director Andrei Shires, a 16-year Criterion veteran, head of studio development Alan McDairmant, who's given 17 years to EA, and Steve Uphill, head of content who has worked for 10 years at the studio.

The developers have left to "explore new opportunities outside of EA".

As a result, Charity Joy has been appointed as executive producer for Need for Speed after working on the EA Sports UFC franchise. Geoff Smith has been moved from his role overseeing the Dirt and Grid games at Codemasters to become senior director of Product Development for Need for Speed.
