Five The Lord of the Rings Games To Be Released By 2024

Embracer revealed that there are currently 5 The Lord of the Rings games that are planned to be released in FY 2023/24 and announced that Valheim will launch on Xbox Game Pass in March 2023.

The Swedish holding Embracer group has released its quarterly report for Q3 (the period from October 1 to December 31, 2022) as well as financial results for the nine months ending December 31 revealing how the games released during these periods performed and sharing plans for the future titles.

The company stated that the main revenue driver of the third quarter among new releases was Coffe Stain's Goat Simulator 3 and noted that the game's sales were "largely in line" with its expectations. Embracer is also pleased with the performance of Evil West, a third-person shooter from Flying Wild Hog.

Apart from sharing the results of the newly-released games, the holding announced that Valheim, the Viking survival game from developer Iron Gate Studio and publisher Coffee Stain which was released in Early Access in February 2021, will launch on Xbox Game Pass in March 2023.

Additionally, the company has shared its plans for future releases saying that it currently has 224 projects in the works, with 31 of them being AAA titles. It also noted that 19 of these 31 AAA games will be released before March 2026. The nearest releases include Dead Island 2 which will launch on April 21, 2023 as well as Homeworld 3, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Remnant 2, and Payday 3 which are scheduled to be released sometime in 2023.

In total, the company plans to release 94 titles in the fiscal year 2023/24, 58 of which are yet to be announced.

Last year, Embracer acquired Middle-earth Enterprises along with The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit IP. In its latest report, the company shared that five game projects based on the franchise are now being developed by its external partners – they are planned to be released in the financial year 2023/24. In addition, there is also one film in the works by an external partner.
