Former Microsoft Veteran Who Became Goose Farmer Sold His Animals & Is Now Bonsai Master

We will miss his geese.

Feng Yuan

Two years ago, Feng Yuan, a former software engineer who worked at Microsoft for 22 years, was hit by layoffs and had to find another passion. He didn't suffer for long and soon became a goose farmer, sharing posts about his pets on LinkedIn.

However, this chapter of his life has now also ended. He had to sell the geese after losing 8 geese and 2 hens to puma attacks. But don't worry: we know that Yuan can bounce back quickly, and he did.

"Next adventure: bonsai," he said and changed his LinkedIn profile accordingly.

Yuan had started raising geese for personal food production a year before he was fired for "low performance." Hopefully, bonsai will bring him soul healing, if not money.

Going from software engineering to goose farming and then bonsai is a crazy career roller coaster, but at least now Yuan has a choice and can't be fired unexpectedly.

Support him on LinkedIn and join our 80 Level Talent platform and our new Discord server, follow us on InstagramTwitterLinkedInTelegramTikTok, and Threads, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
