In 2020, Dan Houser, the Co-founder of Rockstar Games and a prominent Writer and Executive Producer for the studio's games, left the company. Later, we found out that Houser wasn't leaving the game industry but rather wanted to make a new company, which is called Absurd Ventures. In June 2023, Houser shared that Absurd Ventures would mainly focus on creating new IPs "across all platforms and for all formats".
Well, it seems that Houser is not alone in his endeavors since in October 2023, another significant figure from Rockstar Games, Michael Unsworth, the former Vice President of Writing, joined Absurd Ventures. Unsworth has credits as a Writer in popular games like Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 and made contributions to Grand Theft Auto 4, Max Payne 3, and other titles.
Also, it's worth noting that one of the people responsible for the iconic radio personalities in several Grand Theft Auto games, Lazlow Jones, also joined Absurd Ventures in 2021 as an Executive Producer and Co-founder, significantly boosting the new company's talent pool. His work also includes audio production on Red Dead Redemption 2.
The addition of such talents to Absurd Ventures has strengthened the company, as these people played a crucial role in establishing Rockstar Games as a prominent force in the game industry. As Rockstar Games prepares to unveil GTA 6, the transition of key personnel to Absurd Ventures adds excitement to the game industry's ongoing developments.
