Forza Motorsport shows off incredibly-looking gameplay footage featuring dynamic time of day and raytracing.
During the recent Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, the publisher demonstrated a new trailer for Forza Motorsport, the eighth installment in the racing sim series.
The trailer shows off a gameplay demo for the game revealing the Maple Valley, a long-time favorite track of Forza fans, that returns in this new entry. It also unveils some more tracks including fan-favorite Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and Laguna Seca Raceway, as well as the brand-new Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, set in South Africa, and Circuit Hakone, an all-new Japanese track.
The developers explained that this installment, for the first time in the Motorsport series, brings a fully dynamic time of day which will also influence ambient temperatures, so the time of day will change how tires feel on different surfaces at different speeds.
Everything in the game is built from the ground up utilizing photogrammetry and 3D material scans. This new installment will also feature stunning raytracing-powered visuals bringing the game to a new level of realism. In addition, the developers noted that the physics simulation's fidelity was significantly improved, and the game now introduces new features like tire and fuel management, multiple tire compounds, and in-depth car building.
The devs also enhanced car damage to all vehicles – according to them, every individual scratch is now simulated and modeled in-game. They pointed out some of the new details in the directionality of damage showing off how the paint peels away at exposed and raised edges, the wheel abrasions, and the dirt buildup.
Forza Motorsport is set to launch sometime in the first half of 2023 and will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
