Meet Prism 2.0, a new and improved version of Richard Frangenberg's pipeline application.
TD and Founder of Prism Pipeline Richard Frangenberg has officially released Prism Pipeline 2.0, a new and improved version of the free pipeline management application for animation and VFX, compatible with such software as Houdini, Maya, Unreal Engine, Blender, ZBrush, and Nuke.
First unveiled back in 2018, Prism Pipeline is an easy-to-use tool that includes many different features to automate your workflow and manage your complete pipeline from the initial project setup to creating and composing the final renders. "Everything you need is provided out of the box and accessible from intuitive user interfaces, comments the developer, "no technical knowledge is required."
The newly released Prism Pipeline 2.0 comes with a slew of new features and improvements, with the support for OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description), a framework to manage data in CG productions, being the highlight of the update. As stated by the developer, Prism 2.0 has a deep integration with USD and MaterialX, allowing one to use files from such programs as Maya, Houdini, and ZBrush in Prism. Additionally, users now have the ability to export data from other applications in Alembic or OBJ formats, which can be easily referenced within USD files.
The update also brings a revamped user interface with layout improvements, new customization options, a plug-in for managing multiple projects, an experimental Cloud plug-in for remote team management, and additional integration plug-ins for DCC applications. Notably, some of the add-ons, including the aforementioned USD plug-in, as well as those for Unreal Engine and ZBrush, now come with a fee for their usage.
