The battle continues.
Microsoft
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is reportedly investigating Microsoft over issues possibly violating antitrust laws.
The FTC keeps many big companies on their toes, including Meta and Adobe, but Microsoft is likely the most acquainted with the organization because of its lengthy battle over Activision's acquisition.
This time, the commission is looking into Microsoft’s cloud and software licensing business, cybersecurity services, and AI offerings, as first reported by Bloomberg and then confirmed by The Verge.
The FTC demands hundreds of pages of documents produced in over a year of informal discussions with Microsoft competitors and partners. One concern is how Microsoft bundles productivity and security software with its Azure cloud, according to The Verge's source.
Aside from the Activision case, Microsoft has been in the clear recently, which can't be said about Google and Apple: the companies are under scrutiny by the European Commission, which constantly suspects they don't follow the Digital Markets Act (DMA) rules.
