Funcom to Work on Dune Games

Conan Exiles developer Funcom has signed a deal to create new games set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe.

Conan Exiles developer Funcom has signed a deal to create new games set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe. Funcom’s investor announcement states that the deal with Legendary Studios, a division of Legendary Entertainment, will last six years, and is expected to result in the release of at least three new titles across PC and consoles.

Funcom states that one of the upcoming projects is an open-world multiplayer game scheduled to enter pre-production at its Oslo studio this year which means that we’ll get something similar to Conan Exiles.

For those of you unfamiliar, Funcom is also working with developer Petroglyph to release real-time strategy game Conan Unconquered later this year. Petroglyph was set up by numerous ex-Westwood Studios veterans, the team behind the Command & Conquer series and Dune 2.
