The pop culture collectibles manufacturer announced that it has teamed up with developer 10:10 Games to create an AAA action-platformer game.
During San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Funko, the manufacturer of limited pop culture collectibles, best known for its licensed vinyl figurines and bobbleheads, announced that it has decided to enter the video games space and create a new action-platformer AAA game.
The game is being developed in collaboration with a new studio, 10:10 Games, which was founded in 2021 by Jon Burton, who previously served at Traveller's Tales and was in charge of a number of LEGO action games, including the Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Batman series.
"Creating iconic products that emotionally connect fans to their favourite fandoms is critical to each product portfolio decision," Funko CEO Andrew Perlmutter said. "By partnering with 10:10 Games and utilising the best creators in the business, we will have the talent to deliver games that reflect Funko’s unique look and feel across its lines and varied products."
Judging by the teaser trailer, the game will be dedicated to Freddy, the official mascot of Funko. However, the authors also promise integration with third-party companies. The upcoming platformer will be the first collaboration between Funko and 10:10 Games. Together, the companies plan to release at least a few big-budget games for players of all ages.
