Future? No Thanks! Release Delayed Amid Steam Review Over Nudity

According to the developer, the game includes "untextured polygons" depicting nude areas.

Paolo Pedercini, also known as Molleindustria, the developer of Future? No Thanks!, announced that the game, planned to be released on July 22, has been postponed because of the prolonged content review process on Steam.

The developer took to Bluesky and jokingly addressed the situation, sharing that the game has been under review for over three weeks to assess the nudity appearing in gameplay. Pedercini explained that the game includes "untextured polygons" depicting nude areas, which "appear statically on screen for several seconds," also saying that the game will be released whenever the assessment is finished.

Here's the full text of the announcement:

In a follow-up post, Molleindustria suggested the postponement may be related to how Steam handles content moderation. "I believe the delay is due to the mild nudity not warranting an age verification plus Steam not accepting video documentation to examine the content, which is not immediately accessible in the game."

The developer Molleindustria is known for edgy projects touching upon social themes, such as The New York Times Simulator, Democratic Socialism Simulator, and Green New Deal Simulator. He describes Future? No Thanks! as an "ecosocialist open-world utopia." The game is a narrative-driven, open-world adventure following the bitter, poignant, and sarcastic story of a grumpy elderly citizen completing his bucket list.
