"See you in the new year!"
Valve
In the past two months, rumors and suspicious actions from Valve have constantly itched fans of the Half-Life franchise — from a new mysterious branch added to 20-year-old Half-Life 2 on Steam, which had been updated quite often, like a few times a day, to a rumor that Half-Life 3 would be announced at 2024 TGA, even though it didn't happen. Is Valve actually working on Half-Life 3? It has been a topic that is being discussed more than ever.
Now, a cryptic tweet from Mike Shapiro, the voice actor of the series' enigmatic character, G-Man, has poured a large tank of oil onto the flame of fans' anticipation. The tweet, which marks his first post ever since December 2020, is tagged with #Valve, #HalfLife, #GMan, and #2025 and features him delivering a 30-second message as G-Man.
"Another year already. Good to see and hear from so many of you. May the next quarter century deliver as many unexpected surprises, hmm, as did the millennium’s first. Then again, time is fluid like music. See you in the new year!"
The timing of the post, a few hours towards the first day of 2025, makes many wonder if this could be a teaser for a major Half-Life 3 reveal in the new year, with one fan saying: “Half-Life 3 reveal is absolutely coming in 2025 I have no doubts left.” A few of them are trying to calm down a little with this, in this case, as they are cautious about getting hopes up without official confirmation.
It's been 20 years since Half-Life 2 was released in 2004, and during the past two decades, fans have been eagerly waiting for a new installment to the beloved first-person shooter franchise. Besides the rumors that were mentioned at the beginning of the article, there was a notable one from last August suggesting that Valve was working on two new Half-Life titles. One game is designed for VR, while the other, referred to as HLX, is a mysterious project that is believed to be a new title in the Half-Life series.
