Gameplay Footage of Canceled Assassin's Creed Game Appears Online

Assassin's Creed Destiny was set in China, as was the mobile Assassin's Creed Jade, developed by the same studio.

Ubisoft and Tencent have reportedly been secretly working on another Assassin's Creed game, titled Assassin's Creed Destiny. The project was canceled before release, but we can still catch a glimpse of what it looked like through gameplay footage and screenshots.

According to MP1st, the materials date to February 2025. The project was reportedly helmed by TiMi Studio Group, a subsidiary of Tencent Games. The studio also works on the mobile game Assassin's Creed Jade. Like the mobile project, AC Destiny is set in ancient China during the Qin Dynasty in 206 BCE, while Jade is set in 215 BCE.

Working under the title Assassin's Creed Destiny, the game was set in the Qin Dynasty like Jade, but a few years later: Jade is set in 215 BCE, while Destiny is set in 206 BCE. Footage from the portfolios of the developers who worked on the game shows a female protagonist on a mission and a boss fight with a Chinese warlord. Other gameplay elements include AC signature stealth kills and the leap of faith, along with a spinning, umbrella-shaped weapon, ink-brush ability icons, a health bar, and a yin-yang bar on screen.

Other clips show a male character using parkour to defeat enemies. As in previous games in the series, this could mean that players may choose their character's gender, unless the character is only a placeholder. The material also includes close-ups of weapons, from the player's spinning umbrella to Xiang Yu's massive halberd.

Recently, Ubisoft proposed closing Finnish studio RedLynx, creator of the Trials series, and announced layoffs at Ubisoft Singapore, known for Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced. "Today, we informed our teams of a proposal to close RedLynx in Finland, subject to the local change negotiation process, which would affect up to 52 positions," Ubisoft said (thanks, Eurogamer). "At Ubisoft Singapore, 70 positions have been impacted to align the studio with upcoming production needs. The studio remains an important part of Ubisoft's global production organisation." Apart from this, Ubisoft reportedly considers reducing its workforce in Germany by about 100 employees.

In March, the company confirmed that it continues working on the mobile title Assassin's Creed Jade.
