Gearbox to Acquire Tiny Tina Support Studio Lost Boys Interactive

The studio will keep operating independently while working on future projects in collaboration with other Gearbox development teams.

Embracer Group subsidiary Gearbox Entertainment announced its intention to purchase Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands co-developer Lost Boys Interactive. The financial terms of the deal are not disclosed.

The studio will become a subsidiary of Gearbox Entertainment. When the deal is closed, Lost Boys will keep operating independently while working on future projects in collaboration with other Gearbox development teams.

Founded in 2017 by Shaun Nivens and Mark Stefanowicz, the studio has both created its own original IPs and worked as a co-developer on various big projects, including Call of Duty Online, PUBG, and Rune, as well as Gearbox's recently-released Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

The studio currently has a team of over 220 people and intends to further expand to 350 within the next couple of years. It operates on a "remote-first" model and has offices in Madison, Wisconsin and Austin, Texas.

"We founded Lost Boys with a dream to work on products that would be globally recognized and loved," said Lost Boys CEO and co-founder Shaun Nivens. "We’re incredibly excited to join Gearbox and continue doing what we do best – making amazing games that entertain and inspire others.”

Last year, Gearbox Entertainment was acquired by Embracer Group, the parent company of a number of publishing companies such as THQ Nordic, Koch Media/Deep Silver, and Saber Interactive. Recently Embracer stated that it plans to make more acquisitions in the coming years targeting newer markets such as free-to-play games and expanding into countries like the UK, the US, Poland, France, and China.
