Gears 5, the second entry in the Gears of War franchise developed by The Coalition, was released way back in 2019 and since then there has been barely any information about the next installment.
Cliff Bleszinski, ex-lead designer of the series, has previously rumor-mongered on social media about the future of the franchise in regards to Gears 6 quoting a famous Tarantino line "You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention". Now, during the latest episode of Kinda Funny Xcast, the host Parris Lilly shared a hypothesis born after one of The Coalition's developers replied in a cryptic way under his "Imagine what Gears 6 will look like on Unreal 5" tweet:
"So my conspiracy theory is that you do tease it this year, and then it's probably a launch game for next-gen. That seems to make sense to me."
Giant Bomb's Jeff Grubb agreed, adding that a potential teaser of Gears 6 might happen this summer during Xbox Summer Showcase 2024:
