Get Free Houdini Tools From SideFX's New Project Elderwood
The first set includes the ones used to generate cliffs and ruins, along with video lessons.
Similar to Project Grot and Project Titan, Project Elderwood is a new tech demo showcasing procedural workflows for creating game-ready content. This project places a special emphasis on rich vegetation, primarily utilizing the third-party Natsura tools, which were further explored during EPC 2025.
SideFX has also begun releasing the Houdini tools developed for this project. The first ones include the one used to build cliffs, accompanied by a complete tutorial series. This scalable cliff-generation pipeline requires little to no simulation and is designed with a strong focus on art-directability and fast iteration. Also included is Ruinify, a tool for converting low-poly blockout meshes into detailed ruined assets, complete with tutorials that walk through the entire creation process.

In addition, there's a beginner tutorial series where you can learn how to create tiling materials from raw high-poly photogrammetry meshes using Copernicus. You can also explore the world of Project Elderwood with the Unreal Engine 5 file. Ensure that Houdini is properly set up to work with the procedural assets included in the Unreal project.
