Get Unreal Tournament 2004 on Your PC Thanks to Fans
This is the first public patch for the game in 20 years.
Epic Games
Before Fortnite, Epic Games was known for its Unreal series of shooters. It's been 25 years since the OG Unreal Tournament, released in 1999, but the upgraded Unreal Tournament 2004 was a gem on its own, and you can now play it on a modern PC.
Epic has given its consent for the Internet Archive to host its older shooters, and faithful fans from OldUnreal, a community support project that keeps Epic's early shooters alive, made sure UT 2004 was playable on new computers.
OldUnreal provided the first public patch for the game in 20 years, adding a bunch of useful features:
- Full 64-bit support
- SDL3-based window management for the Linux and macOS clients
- UTF-8 support for game ini, int, and log files
- PNG screenshots
- Widescreen fixes
- An updated in-game server browser with lots of quality-of-life improvements
- New renderers
If you want to feel that nostalgia boost, grab the game from the links above and don't forget to install the community patch to make the journey smoother.
