The blockbuster game from ten years ago is far from being forgotten.
While fans are eagerly waiting for the launch of GTA 6, its predecessor is far from being forgotten. More than a decade after its debut, the blockbuster game still takes the first spot in the ranking of the most-watched games in livestreaming.
According to the report of Stream Charts (first spotted by Insider Gaming), the result of analyzing various live streaming platforms, including the leaders like Twitch and YouTube Live that contribute the majority of views for games, shows GTA 5 is the well-deserved top dog, with over 533.33 million hours watched in the third quarter of 2024. The report also concluded that “GTA V appeals to young audiences through its racing content, role-playing, and other online modes.”

Notably, GTA 5 is the only game on the list without an esports event. All the other members on the rank, including the second League of Legends, the third Valorant, and the fourth Counter-Strike, have all been significantly boosted in terms of viewership with their esports events.
Although it was launched over ten years ago, new aspects of the game continue to emerge, such as the unpublished GTA 5 behind-the-scenes documentary and the alleged soundtrack from its unreleased expansion. Also, thanks to the fast growth of VR technology during this period, a bunch of mods have made the game more realistic than ever, allowing you to walk on its gorgeous streets literally.
