Here's How You Can Set Up a Procedural Lamp Generator in Houdini

Radu Cius shared a new detailed guide explaining the process of creating a lamp generator.

Radu Cius, a renowned Houdini 3D Artist and Lead Environment Artist at Riift Studio, continues to explore procedural workflows made possible by SideFX's flagship 3D software by sharing one more comprehensive video tutorial.

This time, the creator presented a comprehensive half-hour-long video guide on how to utilize Houdini to set up a procedural lamp generator, carefully explaining each step of the production, demonstrating how to organize and work with nodes, discussing UV creation in Houdini and texturing in Substance 3D Painter, and more. Additionally, the artist released the Houdini project file and Substance 3D materials behind the generator, which are, as always, available via Radu's Gumroad page.

As many of you already know, this is not the first of Radu's tutorials on the topic. Previously, the artist also shared detailed guides on procedural generation, procedural modeling, procedural texturing, and procedural design in Houdini and Unreal Engine. You can check them out by clicking this link.

And if you'd like to learn more about Radu and his approach to proceduralism, we recommend checking out our 2022 interview with the artist, where he talked about the working process behind Houdini procedural generators, explained why you shouldn't fear the software, and shared some useful resources for beginner artists.
