The Bayonetta designer is not going to retire yet.
News of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry designer Hideki Kamiya leaving PlatinumGames 17 years after co-founding it spread in September. Now, he is finally officially free, but his journey doesn't end here. Kamiya has a new hobby: he has started a YouTube channel.
In his first video, the ex-designer briefly mentions his reasons for quitting, vaguely saying he wanted to follow his beliefs as a game creator. Perhaps PlatinumGames has suffered the same fate as many other companies: when making profitable games became more important than following the founder's vision.
Kamiya also dispels the rumors of him retiring now when PlatinumGames is behind him. He will consider any offer that would give him 100 million yen (around $668,215) a year.
"I'm not retiring as long as "there's a place that would hire me", so, you know... I'm gonna wait for the offer."

However, he says that he can't work in the game industry for a year "due to reasons," so we'll have to wait a while.
Meanwhile, Kamiya is planning to try his hand at blogging. He promises to bring absolutely nothing useful about game development in his videos and share content "completely education-free." The designer has no specific plans for YouTube and would like some ideas, so share them in the comments under the video if you want to see something particular.

Kamiya ends his first blog by leaving PlatinumGames in a red Lamborghini: "Off to the unemployment center. See ya!"
The creator has left not only Platinum but also Project GG, their most ambitious title. But we won't hear any details about it from Kamiya as he earlier stated that all questions should be addressed directly to PlatinumGames.
