Hogwarts Legacy is now the sixth best-selling game of the last 12 months, and PS5 sales grew by a whopping 300% compared to last February.
According to new GfK and GSD data (via GamesIndustry.biz), the UK game market saw robust sales in February which were driven mainly by the success of the recently-released Hogwarts Legacy and the strong performance of PlayStation 5.
In general, over 2.8 million copies of console and PC games were sold in the country last month, reflecting an 11% growth from February 2022. The data includes physical sales of all titles as well as digital sales of major AAA games.
The sales of Hogwarts Legacy significantly impacted overall software sales in February 2023 – the game was unarguably the top-selling title of the month, with its launch sales being 100% bigger than those of last year's hit Elden Ring. Additionally, it is currently the sixth best-selling game of the last 12 months.
In terms of other new releases, Plaion's boxing game Undisputed debuted at No.13, making it the second-highest new release on the chart after Hogwarts Legacy. Atomic Heart made an appearance on the chart at No.17, with 85% of its sales coming from PS5 and PC which is possibly due to its availability on Day One in Game Pass.
Octopath Traveler 2, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, and Wild Hearts were among the new releases that failed to make it to the Top 20, with rankings of No.58, No.78, and No.139, respectively.
