Proving that Geoff Keighley putting on a clown nose earlier wasn't just him embracing his inner jester, development studio Team Cherry has thrilled millions of fans worldwide by teasing a "special announcement" about the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong arriving later this week.
Teased with the short message "The countdown is on!", the announcement is scheduled to drop in 48 hours – this Thursday, August 21, at 7:30 AM PT, 10:30 AM ET, and 3:30 PM UK. As of now, it's unknown what that announcement will be, leaving fans speculating about a possible gameplay showcase, release date reveal, story trailer, or perhaps all of the above.
While the contents of the forthcoming showcase remain a mystery, it was already known prior to Team Cherry's teaser that some news about Silksong would surface in the coming days, with gamescom 2025 attendees spotting the long-awaited title at both the Xbox and Nintendo booths. The game itself is expected to launch by Christmas 2025 at the latest, according to Team Cherry's Marketing and Publishing Manager, Matthew Griffin.
