Horizon Forbidden West is Working on VRR Support & 40FPS Mode

The recent update also added a New Game+ with Ultra Hard mode.

Guerrilla Games has shared it is going to add Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for Horizon Forbidden West. It should enhance visual performance by minimizing or eliminating visual artifacts, such as frame pacing issues and screen tearing.

Another new feature Horizon will get is a 40FPS Mode, which allows it to run more smoothly without losing the quality. The owners of 120Hz monitors will feel the difference especially vividly; with VRR, it should look almost like 60FPS. Watch what the difference will be like:

Here are other games where you can get VRR on PS5:

  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Deathloop
  • Destiny 2
  • Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
  • DIRT 5
  • Godfall
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Resident Evil Village
  • Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
  • Tribes of Midgard

There is no release date for the features, but you can already enjoy replaying Horizon Forbidden West with the New Game+ introducing Ultra Hard mode. There is also revamped Temporal Anti-Aliasing to improve the visual fidelity of the Performance mode, all added in the latest update.
