Hoyoverse's Honkai: Star Rail Achieved 20 Million Downloads on Launch Day

The game has also reportedly become the most downloaded iOS title globally.

Honkai: Star Rail, the latest game from Hoyoverse (formerly MiHoYo), reportedly reached 20 million downloads within a day of its release on April 26. The news comes from industry analyst Daniel Ahmad and the Chinese social media platform Weibo.

This marks a strong debut for the game, especially when compared to Genshin Impact, which reportedly had 17 million downloads on its first day in September 2020 and 23 million within a week of release.

Star Rail's achievement is even more remarkable as it was accomplished solely on PC and mobile devices. In contrast, Genshin's 17 million milestone was partially achieved due to the inclusion of PlayStation 4 as one of its launch platforms.

According to reports, the game has also become the most downloaded iOS title globally. Additionally, prior to its official release, the game had an enormous pre-registration count of 30 million users, out of which 21 million were solely from China.

Honkai: Star Rail is a spin-off of Honkai Impact 3rd, a sci-fi universe-based turn-based RPG. The game features characters familiar to the fans, albeit with significant modifications, and follows their adventure on the Astral Express through different worlds filled with the secrets of unknown civilizations and fascinating tales.

Honkai: Star Rail is available on PC, iOS, and Android, and will later be launched on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
