A few days ago, news emerged about the closure of the developer Hypixel Studios and the cancellation of its Minecraft-inspired block sandbox RPG Hytale. The community was disappointed by the news, as the WIP game received a positive response from the audience.
Hypixel was owned by Riot, which acquired the studio in 2020, and after the closure, there've been some talks and suggestions about Hypixel buying the title back. In recent X/Twitter posts, the studio's founder, Simon, commented on such a possibility.
The developer said that the chapter seems to be "truly closed," and noted that the sums spent on buying the IP "would drain the funding of the game, so it's a bit difficult to deal with." Despite that, he expressed strong passion for the project, saying: "I am even down to put 25 millions USD by myself to finish Hytale, that’s how much I believe in it." However, the creator emphasized that this remains just a plan for now, and acknowledged it would be a "massive challenge":

Despite the Hytale's cancellation, the Hypixel server on Minecraft is said to remain unaffected, as it operates independently of Hypixel Studios.
