Impressive 3D Centipede Model With Physics-Based Animations

This centipede is a predator.

Proving that giant tropical centipedes do indeed share their territories with tarantulas, 3D Artist Boycraft, who just recently wowed us with a realistic 3D model of the Heteroscodra Maculata tarantula, has unveiled an awesome new CG insect powered by Unity.

In this instance, the creator was inspired by Scolopendra Gigantea, also known as the Peruvian giant yellow-leg centipede or Amazonian giant centipede, faithfully recreating the nasty bug in 3D. Like before, the most captivating part of the creature is its realistic physics-based animations, which, according to Boycraft, could've looked even more realistic had the body joints been more flexible. Despite appearing fully completed, the centipede is still WIP, with the artist planning to optimize the model for VR before calling the project ready.

And here's the aforementioned tarantula model that we featured a few weeks ago:

If you'd like to see the artist's entire collection, we highly recommend visiting Boycraft's Twitter and Sketchfab pages filled to the brim with awesome 3D bugs.
