Mike Miranda presented the final version of the 3D Witch model created for Medieval: Back and Forth.
3D Character Artist Mike Miranda has shared the final version of Lya 'The Witch', a highly-detailed real-time 3D character portrait created for Medieval: Back and Forth, a recently-concluded ArtStation challenge that tasked Digital Artists to combine the old and the new and imagine the middle ages as a destination for modern travelers.
Inspired by one of Yuhong Ding's character concepts, also made for Medieval: Back and Forth, Mike's take on the character was set up using Maya, ZBrush, and Substance 3D Painter and rendered in Marmoset Toolbag 4, with Photoshop having been used for some additional post-process work. In addition, the artist utilized FiberShop, a real-time hair-card texture generator tool, to thoroughly recreate the character's 2D hairstyle in 3D.
The artist also shared a large collection of behind-the-scenes shots, demonstrating how the character was made step-by-step. You can check out the entire collection of WiPs by clicking this link.
