Insider Suggests Resident Evil 9 Might Embrace Open-World Gameplay

Due to the development of the RE Engine, the developer is likely going to implement a shift from the series' traditional gameplay.

Rumors are circulating in the gaming community that the highly-anticipated Resident Evil 9 could be embracing an open-world format.

The source of this speculation is the renowned insider, AestheticGamer aka Dusk Golem, who has previously shared credible information about several video games, including releasing some footage of the new Silent Hill game back May 2022. 

According to Dusk Golem's revelations, Capcom, the developer of the Resident Evil series, has been refining its RE Engine's capacity for creating open-world experiences while developing Dragon's Dogma 2.

This development has not only improved Dragon's Dogma 2 itself, but also set a stage for future titles from Capcom. The expanded capabilities of the RE Engine might pave the way for Resident Evil 9's design, marking a potential shift from the series' traditional gameplay.
