There are plenty of ways to play the game.
From a Marvel's Spider-Man 2 gameplay video and a recent interview with Insomniac Games, we've learned that you can switch between controlling Peter Parker and Miles Morales. We're sure many of you wonder how flexible this system is and how it works exactly. Eurogamer talked to the game's creative director Bryan Intihar and shared the details.
Intihar revealed that there are several ways to enjoy the game:
"When you're playing the main story, we control when you switch between Pete and Miles... it's done in service to the story when we're making those switches, for sure. So, as you saw on that gameplay reveal, which is a segment of the main story, we are pre-determining those based on what we want to do for how the story plays out."
However, when you traverse the open world, there is content designed around just Peter, only Miles, and sometimes you can play either. You can "freely switch between them with a simple button press" in New York "thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5."
Character switching will tie in with the three skill trees: Peter's, Miles's, and one that is shared.
"We want to make sure that when you do switch between the heroes, there's a sense of familiarity. They're both Spider-Man, you know how to play the game, but you still have that flexibility in that customisation for upgrading each of them with their [skill trees]," Spider-Man 2's game director Ryan Smith said. "We saw in the gameplay reveal where Miles has the evolved Venom powers, whereas Peter has the Symbiote abilities. And so those, those change a bit of how you play, and you can upgrade those in their respective trees as well."
Spider-Man 2 is scheduled for release in fall 2023. Find the interview here and don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
