Spider-Man 2 Will Not Feature Co-Op, Insomniac Confirms
It will not be possible to play cooperatively with a friend controlling both superheroes simultaneously.
Insomniac Games has confirmed that the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will not feature a co-op mode.
The studio made the announcement in response to a fan's inquiry on Twitter. When questioned about the possibility of Spider-Man 2 being a co-op game, Insomniac clarified that it is going to be "an epic single-player adventure."
Speculation regarding the inclusion of cooperative gameplay in the game has been circulating since its announcement, fueled by the initial trailer showcasing the collaboration between Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Towards the end of May, conversations about co-op gameplay in Spider-Man 2 resurfaced on various online platforms. This renewed interest stemmed from a Q&A recording discovered on Reddit featuring actor Nadji Jeter, who voiced Miles Morales in Insomniac's games. When asked if Spider-Man 2 is set to be a cooperative game, Jeter responded by saying, "I don't know if it's been announced or not, but it seems so."
In its response to a fan, the studio refrained from providing specific details, leaving room for the possibility that both Spider-Man characters could be playable, albeit independently of each other.
The game is expected to be released before the end of 2023, however, the exact date remains unknown at this time.
